We talk a lot on this blog about how much it matters when the people on your event team already know each other — and Daniel and Alicia’s proposal is a pretty perfect example of why. I met Daniel back in 2020, in the middle of Covid, through the BNI Power Partners networking group, and when he was ready to pop the question, he trusted that same network to help him capture it right.

Setting the Scene

He picked Rockwood Manor Park in Potomac, Maryland for the moment — quiet paths, mature trees, and exactly the kind of natural light I look for when a couple wants photos that feel real instead of staged. Jack and I got there early to walk the grounds and figure out where the light and the privacy overlapped best.

The Moment Itself

Candlelight, white roses, and Alicia completely surprised. Daniel got down on one knee, and I don’t think there was a dry eye among the family members who’d quietly gathered to watch. Jack and I worked the moment from two angles at once — his face, her reaction, the reveal, the hug — so the couple would have the whole story, not just one side of it.

Why We Shoot Proposals in Twos

A proposal happens once, on one afternoon, with zero retakes. Having two photographers there isn’t overkill — it’s how you make sure nothing that mattered gets missed. Congratulations, Daniel and Alicia!
